In some cases, the MIDI Remote script may load without its command assignments. When this happens, even though the script is installed correctly and the MIDI ports are set up, no commands will trigger because the assignments did not fully load.
Here’s how to reset and update your SideshowFX MIDI Remote setup:
1. Remove Old Files
Delete the file SideshowFX_Track Mix Strip.json from:
-
Windows:
C:\Users\USER_NAME\Documents\Steinberg\Cubase\MIDI Remote\Driver Scripts\Local\SideshowFX\Track Mix Strip -
Mac:
/Users/USER_NAME/Documents/Steinberg/Cubase/MIDI Remote/Driver Scripts/Local/SideshowFX/Track Mix Strip
Also delete the file _globalmappings.json
-
Windows:
C:\Users\USER_NAME\Documents\Steinberg\Cubase\MIDI Remote\User Settings -
Mac:
/Users/USER_NAME/Documents/Steinberg/Cubase/MIDI Remote/UserSettings
2. Clear MIDI Remote Settings in Cubase
-
Open Studio > MIDI Remote Manager
-
In the Controller tab, remove the SideshowFX_Track Mix Strip Control Surface
-
In the Script tab, delete the associated script
3. Restart the System
Reboot your computer after removing the files.
4. Install the Updated Script
-
Import the new MIDI Remote script through MIDI Remote Manager, or add a control surface in the Lower Zone of the MIDI Remote tab
-
When prompted, enter:
-
Vendor: SideshowFX
-
Model: Track Mix Strip
-
MIDI Ports:
-
Input:
StreamDeck2DawTrack -
Output:
DawTrack2StreamDeck
-
-
5. Restart Cubase
After installation, restart Cubase to ensure the new mapping assignments load properly.
You can confirm everything is working by checking that command buttons illuminate when using the StreamDeck profile.
