How to Roll Back Windows Update

1 min. readlast update: 02.26.2026

If you need to rollback a Windows Update particularly if your MIDI system is no longer working, first confirm it is a MIDI 2.0 issue:

Go to Windows Tools → Services
Restart Windows MIDI Service (Stop → Start)
If ports return temporarily, it confirms the issue.

2️⃣ Create a Restore Point

Search Create a restore point
Click Create
Name it (e.g., Pre-MIDI Rollback)

3️⃣ Uninstall the Recent Update Only

Settings → Windows Update → Update History → Uninstall Updates
Remove the latest cumulative/feature update:

In the Start Menu look for Windows Settings / Windows Update and go to Update History

Scroll down until you see these three Updates. Uninstall all 3.

Restart Windows
⚠ Do NOT reset Windows — only uninstall the update.

4️⃣ Pause Windows Updates

Settings → Windows Update → Pause updates
This prevents automatic reinstallation.

5️⃣ Verify Stability

Open LoopMIDI
Launch DAW
Reboot once to confirm ports remain stable
