Stream Deck Animated Screensaver Instructions

3 min. readlast update: 04.16.2024

Thanks for downloading the Stream Deck Animated Screensaver! This pack provides you with a colorful animated screen for your Stream Deck MK, Stream Deck XL or Stream Deck Plus device when not in use.

Version 2 of this screensaver takes advantage of Stream Deck software Version 6.6’s ability to display animated screensavers through the built-in screensaver option (previously only stills were displayed). This pack has been modified to allow for this new feature and enable it to be a “true” screensaver (rather than needing to press a button - the screensaver will now start automatically). The old method still exists for users still on Stream Deck Version 6.5 and earlier. This “old” method requires you to press a button to invoke the screensaver and still works as before.

Version 6.6 or Later

The following instructions are being demonstrated using a Mac system with an MK device but the same directions apply to the Windows system and to Plus and XL devices.

1. Click the gear icon in the Stream Deck software

2. Under the Devices tab, locate the Screensaver Set button and press it. An Image Customization window will appear.

  1. Navigate to your Animated Screensaver pack and in the Gifs folder select the file that corresponds with your device (MK, XL or Plus). Drag the gif file onto the Customization screen. (Drag only one of these).

4. You will see a Set Animation button appear.Pressing this button will load the screensaver into your device. (You will see the progress bar build). When it has finished loading the window will close.

  1. Set the desired idle interval for when the screensaver will appear.

  1. You can test the screensaver immediately by dragging a Sleep trigger to any available key and then pressing it on your device.

  1. You're all set!

Version 6.5 or earlier

Many of our Screensaver titles have the option of loading into earlier versions of Stream Deck by loading in the Screensaver as a profile. Note: New packs released after Apr.1 2024 will not have this option.

The following instructions are being demonstrated using a Mac system with an MK device but the same directions apply to the Windows system and to XL devices. (There is no option for Plus devices).

  1. Click the gear icon in the Stream Deck Preferences.

  1. In the Profile pane, select the dropdown menu and select “Import”. Select the profile for your device (MK or XL) from the Animated Screensaver pack.

  1. Open a profile you would like to trigger the animated screensaver from. Typically this would be your default or home page but it can be any page you want. Drag a Switch Profile menu item from the right to any empty button. In the Profile dropdown, select the Profile you just imported.

  1. Drag the Screensaver icon from the Screensaver Pack to your newly created button.

  1. The wallpaper will continously loop until you press the top left button which will take you back to your Default page. It is a good idea to set this button to go back to the profile you just came from for the best navigation experience.  This is strictly a wallpaper, no interaction or gameplay is programmed.
